Advantage Peel in Premier league

Football

Peel demolished Union Mills 6-2 on Saturday to move three points clear of their nearest rivals with a game in hand in the Sure Mobile Premiership.

The Westerners ran riot at Douglas Road with Kerron Christian and Marc Kelly both bagging braces and Danny Bell and Callum Gallagher also finding the net.

Sam Caine and a David Thommeny penalty scored the Millers' consolations.

Meanwhile, in the biggest clash of the day St Mary's and St Georges drew 1-1 at the Bowl.

Steven Priestnal gave St Mary's the lead before Chris Bass equalised for St Georges, both goals coming in the second-half.

Old Boys took advantage of the result, beating Michael 4-1 to move second.

Corinthians boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 win over Ayre United.

The result leaves the Northerners five points adrift and clear favourites for relegation.

Elsewhere Gymns defeated Colby 5-1 at Tromode and Laxey continued their good form with a 3-0 win at Ramsey.
