Cringle claims Arthur Jones win

Cringle on his way to a second victory of the season

Tom Cringle went one better than his second place finish in 2008 to win the Arthur Jones Fell Race in testing conditions on Sunday.

The 27-year-old completed the punishing 15-mile route in a time of two hours, 20 minutes and three seconds.

Simon Skillicorn finished second, just over three minutes behind Cringle, with Ben Scott in third place.

Cringle's win is his second of the Manx Fell Racing season, the last round in Greeba was won by Skillicorn.

Sarah Curphey won the ladies race with another excellent performance on the fells in a time of three hours, 11 minutes and 25 seconds.

The win made it two wins out of two for Curphey this season as she came home an impressive ninth overall.

The Arthur Jones is one of the most demanding of the Manx fell courses taking in both South Barrule and Cronk ny Airee Laa and including over 4,000 feet of ascent.
