St George's 3-2 Rushen United

Football

St George's beat Rushen United 3-2 at Croit Lowey on Saturday to leapfrog the Railway Cup champions in the Sure Mobile Premier League.

Chris Bass Jr put the Geordies ahead before Aaron Hawley drew Rushen level.

Callum Morrissey then restored the visitors' advantage only for Josh Kelly to haul Rushen level once more.

Despite the dismissal of Neil Brogan, St George's dug deep and Chris Melly netted to keep the pressure firmly on Peel at the top.

Meanwhile, St Mary's defeated Union Mills 6-2 at Garey Mooar to stay second.

Steven Priestnal (two), Frank Jones (two), Marc Priestnal and Martin Reilly kept the Saints' title bid on course.

Danny McMahon and James Cannell scored for the Millers.

Elsewhere, Old Boys deepened Ayre United's relegation worries with a 7-3 success at Blackberry Lane.

The result sees Old Boys draw level on points with Rushen and St Georges.
