Rushen move second with Laxey win

Newly crowned Railway Cup winners Rushen United up to second in the Sure Mobile Premiership with a 1-0 win over Laxey at Glen Road on Saturday.

Chris Shimmin's 32nd minute strike was enough to secure the points and keep the pressure on league leaders Peel.

Meanwhile, St Mary's moved third after defeating Corinthians 3-0 at the Bowl with Steve Priestnal scoring an impressive hat-trick.

Elsewhere, Ayre remain in trouble after losing 2-1 at home to Union Mills.

The Northerners led at the break through Sam Ferguson but a second half brace from Sam Cain sealed the points for the Millers.

Michael's bid for survival gathered momentum as they enjoyed a 2-1 home victory over Ramsey while fifth placed Old Boys edged out Colby 2-1.
