Pitches have been left frozen by the cold weather

The continuing freezing weather has badly hit this weekend's league and cup football programme in Britain.

The Premier League matches between Portsmouth and Manchester City and Fulham against Blackburn have been postponed because of frozen pitches.

Championship matches at Blackpool, Cardiff, Doncaster and Plymouth also fell victim to the weather.

The League One and Two programmes have been badly hit, while the FA Trophy and Scottish Cup were also affected.

In League One the games at Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham, Oldham, Scunthorpe, Southend, Swindon, Tranmere and Walsall were called off.

Nine of the 12 scheduled League Two fixtures were hit, with the games at Accrington, Bournemouth, Chesterfield, Dagenham and Redbridge, Gillingham, Grimsby, Luton, Macclesfield and Shrewsbury all lost to the freezing conditions.

The Scottish Cup ties at Inverurie Locos, Forfar and Brechin were also postponed, as was the Scottish Division Three game between Annan Athletic and Albion Rovers.

The two scheduled Blue Square Premier games between Histon and Weymouth and Mansfield against Altrincham were both called off.

The FA Trophy has also been affected, with 11 of the 14 ties scheduled for Saturday postponed.

The Cumbria derby between Barrow and Workington, Crawley's trip to Cambridge United, Ebbsfleet's match against Stalybridge, Farnborough v Stevenage, Forest Green's clash with Redditch, Hednesford against Welling, Kidderminster's visit to Ilkeston, Lewes v Havant, the all-Blue Square Premier tie between Oxford and York, AFC Telford v Hayes & Yeading and Uxbridge against Swindon Supermarine all fell victim to the icy weather.

The League of Wales games at Aberystwyth, Llanelli, Newi Cefn Druids, Porthmadog and Welshpool were all called off.
