Trinity and Scottish open up gap

St Paul's
Champions St Paul's fell further behind in the race for the top

Trinity and Jersey Scottish both got further away from the pack at the top of Jersey Football's Premiership after a high-scoring weekend of matches.

Leaders Trinity beat third-from-bottom Sporting Academics 5-2, with John Beatson and Mark Read both scoring two.

At Le Couvent Jersey Scottish beat second-from-bottom Rozel Rovers 7-1 with Paul Aitken and Ross Crick both getting hat-tricks.

St Paul's, in third, lost ground after their game at St Ouen was postponed.

The champions are now nine points off Trinity and four behind Scottish, although they have two games in hand on the leaders and one on the Scots.

In the day's other match St Peter cruised to victory over their near rivals Jersey Wanderers, returning from the Hockey Club with a 8-1 win.

Chris Conning scored four while Ryan Durand got two for the winners as they stay in fourth place. Wanderers stay routed to the bottom.
