South West Peninsula League chairman Bob Bell will not seek re-election when his term of office ends in June.
Bell has been involved in football in the region since 1963 first as player, then manager, then league official.
He has been SWPL chairman since its formation at the start of 2007/08. Before that he was at the helm of the South Western League for eight years.
The South Western League merged with the Devon County League at the start of the 2007/08 season to form the SWPL.
In a statement, Bell said it was time for a new face to take over.
"It is my fervent wish that the Peninsula League and its member clubs go from strength to strength," he said. "I believe this will be best achieved by you electing a new chairman who will bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and drive to the role."
