Extended lead costs Bodmin dear

Football

Bodmin Town paid a big price as they went four points clear in the South West Peninsula League on Tuesday night.

Steve Ovens broke his leg and fellow striker Mark Berry was knocked unconscious in the 3-0 win at Tavistock, both ending up in hospital.

Ovens gave Bodmin a first-half lead before Berry suffered his injury.

Ovens then scored again in the second half before suffering his broken leg after 65 minutes. Bodmin got a late third goal through Nick Campbell.

Town are now four points clear of second-placed Buckland Athletic with three games in hand. Tavistock stay in seventh place.
