Marshall took Harrogate Railway to the FA Cup second round in 2002
Tadcaster Albion manager Paul Marshall predicted better times ahead for the struggling club following Saturday's goalless home draw against Brighouse.
Albion are next-to-bottom of Koolsport NCEL Division One after claiming only their fourth point of the season.
Marshall told BBC Radio York: "Some of them are good, honest players and I'm sure they're going to improve.
"We had a lethargic start but we were unlucky not to score two or three goals in the second half."
Marshall was pleased Albion kept a clean sheet as he said they had conceded 21 goals in their previous four games.
It's a lovely club and I want to take it forward

"We're not paying any of the players so it's difficult, they're all doing it for the love of the game and we can't get stuck into them as much as I would like to if I was paying them."
Godwin Douglas was Albion's star man after being pushed into attack in the second half.
"At 38 he's still got power and pace and he caused them loads of problems."
Marshall achieved national fame in December 2002 when he led Harrogate Railway Athletic to an FA Cup second round tie against Bristol City, which they lost 3-1.
He added: "I went to Goole after that and won the NCEL Premier so I have done a bit more than Harrogate Railway."
Since then Marshall had "got involved with kids football, with my little boy," before taking up the offer to manage Tadcaster Albion.
"As the manager I've joined the committee and I'm working with some terrific lads there.
"There's a group of us, about six, seven or eight people who all want to push in the right direction.
"It's a lovely club and I want to take it forward."
