Johansson believes a few big clubs are "dictating" to football |
Uefa president Lennart Johansson says new regulations are needed to protect football from the influence of unscrupulous agents. "It's a demanding job, it's difficult but you cannot have people who are only working to earn some money," Johansson told BBC Five Live Sport.
"You must have a system where you can control these people.
"They must be enforced and tightened. You must accept there is no doubt about the integrity of the personalities."
Johansson added: "Young players need somebody - but not somebody who is just there to earn money on their behalf.
"They are needed but they must be the right personalities and the right people."
The Uefa president said he was also keen to tackle other problems that he believes are blighting the game.
"We will mention a number of problems that call for action and also for new laws, statutes and regulations to clarify and regulate what is going in the wrong direction," he confirmed.
"Take illegal betting for instance or the fact there is one way or the other of hiding it of being the owner of one club.
"How can we avoid that there are only a few big clubs who dictate to the rest of the world how things should be?
"Shouldn't we allow everyone to have a fair chance, even if it's a small one, to qualify? Isn't that sport?"
