Mutu will return to new club Juventus when his treatment finishes

Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu has started two weeks of rehabilitation at Tony Adams' Sporting Chance clinic.

The Romanian, 26, is banned from football until 16 May after testing positive for cocaine last year.

Under the terms of his ban, he must attend a programme of "education and rehabilitation" at Sporting Chance.

"He was given the choice of spending one or two weeks with us, and chose two, which is fantastic," Sporting Chance chief Peter Kay told BBC Sport.

"It's our policy not to discuss the details of individual clients, as confidentiality is one of the keys to our success.

"However, it has been widely known for some time that Adrian will be attending the clinic.

"He'll be undergoing the highly successful programme we've developed here. It involves one-on-one psychotherapy, yoga, group skills and individual football training."

The Romanian will also have mentoring sessions with former Arsenal and England captain Adams, which will start on Friday at the Hertfordshire clinic.

Mutu claims he only took cocaine four or five times when he separated from his wife and became estranged from his children last year.

And Kay revealed that the couple attended four secret counselling sessions at Sporting Chance last November and were now reconciled. They are hoping to live together again in the near future.

"Adrian is now getting his life together again," Kay said. "He's got a bright career with Juventus ahead of him and is now reconciled with his wife and children."

Mutu, who will play for Italian giants Juventus when his ban ends, will return to the club when his programme at Sporting Chance finishes.

Reports on Wednesday suggested the Football Association wanted to prevent Mutu training with the Serie A side until his ban had finished.
