The five nominations have been revealed for the Jersey Sports Council's Sid Guy award for service to island sport over an extended period. The nominees are bowler Ken Swanton, motorsport paramedic Jason Hamon and Ken Sheehan (swimming). Also in line for the prestigious award are physio Morag Obarska and netball's Ann Halliwell. Additionally, there are seven names in the hat for Sports Person of the Year, and six for the Team trophy. The award ceremony will be held on Friday 25 March at the Ambassadeur Hotel.
Jersey Sports Council Award's nominees: Sports Person of the Year: Samantha Godel (gymnastics), Ross Davis (bowls), David Turner (shooting), Peter Gough (cricket), Adam Le Cheminant (Motorcycle Trials), Ian Black (swimming) and Zane Duquemin (athletics). Perpetual Team Trophy: Boys under 15 Sportshall Athletics team, Jersey Table Tennis Association inter-insular team, Jersey's national cricket team, Steve Leonard and Sion Humphries (rallying), Channel Island men's fours bowls team, and St. Pauls FC. Colin Welsh Memorial Trophy (for unsung hero): Morag Obaska (Touch), Michael Samson (St Ouen FC) and Ken Swanton (bowls).
