Katherine Brunt produced her best one-day bowling figures as England levelled the series against India at 1-1 with a thrilling three-run win in Bangalore. England posted a score of 183-8 from their 50 overs, thanks mainly to an innings of 64 by Jenny Gunn. Brunt then took four wickets with the new ball before Mithali Raj and Amita Sharma put on 112 to revive India. But Raj was left high and dry on 91 not out as they were all out for 180, Brunt finishing with figures of 5-22. The match was, however, India's for the taking during a seventh-wicket stand of 45 between Raj and skipper Jhulan Goswami which left them just 11 runs short of victory. But Gunn removed Goswami (19) and Nooshin Al Khadeer, the former stumped by Tamsin Beaumont who was brought into the team because first-choice keeper Sarah Taylor has a hip injury, and Brunt bowled Preeti Dimri for a first-ball duck to leave the home side on 175-8.  | 606: DEBATE |
With Thirush Kamini unable to resume after retiring hurt earlier in the innings, it was left to Raj and number 11 Gouher Sultana to see India home. Sultana was on strike at the start of the final over, bowled by Gunn, and after failing to score from the first two deliveries, she tried to pinch a single off the third, only to be beaten by Caroline Atkins' throw to the bowler's end. "This means a lot to us. It was a great performance by all the bowlers today," England captain Charlotte Edwards commented. "It shows what we can do even without the likes of experienced players such as Sarah Taylor, Clare Taylor and Holly Colvin. It was another great team performance."
