Sachin Tendulkar believes India are playing well enough to win the ICC Champions Trophy - and then go on to lift the World Cup.

India will play Australia or Sri Lanka in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday after beating South Africa in the semi-final.

And Tendulkar admits their recent one-day form has given them great confidence for the future.

"We're here to win and from day one we came here very determined," he said.

"We've been playing good cricket and that's what we want to do. We just want to go out and stick to our basics and do the same things we've been doing for some time."

When asked if India could win the World Cup, Tendulkar added: "Every team feels that and if you don't feel that way you should not play.

"It doesn't happen overnight so we've been trying and we've been working out a few things. We've been very determined and focused and that's our target."

India have been in a rich vein of one-day form, beating England in the Natwest Series final in July and thrashing them again in the Champions Trophy.

And they produced a storming fightback against South Africa on Wednesday to book their place in the final with a 10-run victory.

"I think this is one of the best sides I've been part of," said Tendulkar.

"It's a very good combination. Everyone is doing a good job.

"If the top order fails then the lower-middle order does well. If the bowling has not done all that good then the batting makes up for it.

"In England when we bowled on some decent tracks the bowlers did an excellent job so on the whole everything is clicking.

"There has been some brilliant catches taken, especially by Yuvraj [Singh] and Mohammad [Kaif] - they have really raised the standard."

Tendulkar, however, insists his team-mates will not allow complacency to creep in as they continue their preparations for the World Cup.

"When you are winning everything looks perfectly fine and you feel things are happening exactly the way you want them to," he said.

"The real test will come when things are not happening our way and then we fight it out.

"As of now I would say the team has really done well and all the guys have performed from number one to number 11, and that's why we've produced a consistent result in the recent past.

"When we are playing well and winning why should we worry? We should carry the confidence forward, but not be overconfident."
