England and India will play a one-day international on Sunday after their Test match in Shenley was washed out without a ball bowled. England captain Clare Connor and her Indian counterpart Anjum Chopra agreed to play the match after the first Test ended in a draw. The one-day match at Beaconsfield Cricket Club in Hertfordshire will give both sides valuable practice ahead of the second Test which begins on 14 August in Taunton. "It's disappointing not to play the Test match, but at least we will have some international cricket before heading to Taunton for the deciding Test," Connor said. England beat India twice in the one-day International triangular series last with New Zealand winning the tournament.
Recently they completed a series of games against ECB and MCC women's teams. Their batting still has a brittle look about it but they have defended low totals recently. This is due to the skills of medium pacer Jhulan Goswami and a raft of spinners led by the experienced Neetu David. If they are to win the Test Matches, Captain Anjum Chopra and Mithali Raj need to score consistently. | |
