The Lucknow Test, which will be remembered for the world record opening partnership between Caroline Atkins and Arran Thompson, has finished in a draw.

Following heavy rain and bad light, which led to the loss of 68 overs on days two and three, India finished their first innings on 312-9 in reply to England's first innings total of 314.

The main feature of the day was a classy century from India's Hemlata Kala. India collapsed late on from 301-4 with England's bowlers sharing the wickets.

The teams now move to Mumbai for the fourth one-day-international on Monday, finishing their tour in Pune on Thursday with the fifth ODI.

Confidence

However, that series has already been 3-0 by India in convincing fashion.

England captain Clare Connor said: "The performance in this Test has given the whole team a lot of confidence, and Caroline and Arran were simply world class.

"It's a psychological victory for us that we protected our lead, and taking six wickets for 10 runs this afternoon ensured that we finished ahead.

Talent

"We're starting to see the depth of young talent in the women's game in England, now we need to keep working hard to see that talent realised in our results.

"It's disappointing that we lost so much time to rain, and the match ended in a draw, but we're looking forward to the last two ODIs and ensuring the series result reflects our improvement."

In addition to her world record, Caroline Atkins won a television for being 'batsman of the match.'

She said: "I don't have a TV in my room at University, so it's excellent news! I just have to get it home! It was great to win the prize, especially as Kala made a century."
