England warm up with rare win
Jane Cassar
Jane Cassar top-scored with a patient 30
Women's tour match, Pune: England (153-7 off 49.2 overs) beat IWCA XI (149-8) by three wickets

England women secured just the second win of their tour, against an Indian Women's Cricket Association XI in Pune on Wednesday.

Chasing 150 for victory, England began patiently, Jane Cassar top-scoring with 30 from 87 deliveries.

They looked in trouble at 123 for seven, when Mandie Godliman and Dawn Holden fell in the space of three deliveries in the 43rd over.

But Test opener Carloine Atkins, playing down the order at seven, and Sarah Clarke put on 30 for the ninth wicket to clinch the win with four balls to spare and three wickets in hand.

Mandie Godliman
Godliman was involved in three dismissals
Taking over from Casser behind the stumps, Godliman was involved in two run outs and a stumping as the IWCA XI, including three international players, were restricted to 149 for eight.

After an opening stand of 45 between Karuna Jain and Test player Jaya Sharma, the hosts crumbled to 81 for seven before a late revival.

Spinners Clarke and captain Clare Connor took two wickets each.

England have not won since their only other non-international match of the trip, the tour-opener against Madras on 4 January.

They go into Friday's final one-day international 4-0 down in the limited overs series but drew a one-off Test in Lucknow.
