India too strong again
Chopra finished on 37 not out
Anjum Chopra finished on 37 not out
England's women cricketers were convincingly beaten by India on Tuesday to go 2-0 down in the five-match one-day series.

Seamer Jhulan Goswami took three for eight in five overs as the tourists made just 70 for seven in a rain-reduced 23-over-a-side contest.

The best score was recorded by debutant Helen Wardlaw, 13 not out off 18 balls.

Selected for her off-spin bowling, Wardlaw then conceded 18 runs off her three overs in a decidedly one-sided contest.

Captain in form

India's captain Anjum Chopra hit 37 not out as the home side reached the target with two overs and four balls to spare, losing just one wicket when Anju Jain was run out for 10.

Afterwards, England Coach John Harmer said: "Our game has been loose in the first couple of matches.

"Our usually strong bowling attack is conceding too many extras and our batters are lacking the positivity to play shots.

"It has been disappointing and it will be tough without our top batters, but I still expect us to play better as the tour goes on."

England fell to an eight-wicket defeat in the first ODI after scoring a paltry 106 in their innings.

The third match takes place on Wednesday.

India: A Jain, A Chopra, DM Kulkarni, AK Nooshin, N David, G Jhulan, K Arundhati, M Maben, H Kala.

England: Caroline Atkins (Sussex), Laura Spragg (Yorks), Laura Newton (Cheshire), Kate Lowe (Notts), Arran Thompson (Lancs), Clare Connor (Sussex), Jane Cassar (Notts), Helen Wardlaw (Yorks), Dawn Holden (Notts), Clare Taylor (Yorks), Lucy Pearson (Staffs).
