Younis Khan was delighted with what he described as probably his finest Test century as Pakistan took control of the second Test against Sri Lanka. It was his first century since his 153 against West Indies at Sharjah in February 2002 and he was playing his first Test in more than a year.
"This is perhaps the most valuable and memorable hundred for me in my career," said Younis, who went on to score 124.
"I was under pressure in this match to perform and I came good."
Younis also figured in two significant partnerships, putting on 149 for the third wicket with skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq (79no) and a second wicket stand of 122 with Imran Farhat (72) as Pakistan reached 298-4 at the close of play, a first innings lead of 90.
"I have been out of the Test team for more than a year now and I think this hundred has done my chances of becoming a permanent member of the side a world of good," he added.
"I knew before I went out to bat that I needed to get a big score to convince everyone I was a quality Test batsman. I was under pressure initially but then I enjoyed the innings.
"Of my six hundreds I enjoyed this the most. The ball swung a bit but there is nothing wrong with the pitch."
Pakistan must win in Karachi to level the two-Test series after Sri Lanka won the first Test in Faisalabad by 201 runs.
