Razzaq gives credit to Inzamam
Abdul Razzaq
Razzaq is confident he can shine at Test level as well as in one-dayers
Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq praised skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq after recording career best figures of 5-35 against Sri Lanka in the second Test.

Razzaq has been criticised for lacking the potential to do well in Test cricket, despite establishing himself as a leading one-day player.

"Inzamam told me I had the capability to play a greater role in Test cricket as well," said Razzaq.

"I wouldn't play in Tests if I didn't think I could perform at this level."

Razzaq, who has played in 175 one-day internationals but is making only his 30th Test appearance, said every critic has his point of view and he was willing to step down from the Test team if his captain did not have faith in him.

"Inzamam told me that in the absence of Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami I had a bigger role to perform in this Test match. I am glad I could do it," he added.

"When Shoaib and Sami play I have the role of a stock bowler, but in their absence I was asked to attack and take wickets. The pitch is also good for bowling.

"My ambition remains to establish myself as a permanent member of the Test team and contribute as an all-rounder."

Pakistan, who need to win in Karachi to level the two-Test series, bowled Sri Lanka out for 208 just before the close of play on the first day as the tourists slumped after making a solid start.
