Robert Key
Robert Key
DOB:12.5.79
County:Kent
Test debut: Yet to play
One-day international debut: Yet to play

Right hand batsman

An impressive opener in England age-group cricket, Key gained a reputation as a batsman with potential who lacked application.

An impressive third county season in 2001, though, saw him gain 1281 runs, with four centuries, and a place in England's Academy trip to Perth.

Under the tutelage of Rod Marsh, Key says he was shocked to learn exactly what it took to succeed at the highest level.

But his Test call-up in place of Graham Thorpe indicates that the selectors feel he has acted on the lessons learned.
