Mason has yet to play a first team for Worcestershire this season |
Worcestershire have suffered a fresh injury set back after pace man Matt Mason broke down on his return to action from a rib injury. The 36-year-old's comeback in a second-team game lasted just six overs. Fellow quick Chris Whelan is already out with a hamstring strain and batsman David Wheeldon will be missing for four weeks with a broken thumb. But seamer Alan Richardson is expected to be fit to open the bowling against Derbyshire following an ankle injury. Worcestershire play Lancashire at New Road in the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition on Sunday 16 May (1345 BST) and start a four-day LV Championship game against Derbyshire on Monday 17 May (1100 BST). There will be full commentary on both games on BBC Hereford and Worcester on 738AM and online.
