Ashley Noffke has given 10 years of service to his home state Queensland |
Worcestershire paceman Ashley Noffke will play for Tom Moody's Western Australia next season after quitting Queensland over a contract dispute. He has signed a two-year deal after being upset by his home state side's plans to focus him on four-day cricket. Noffke will join up with Worcestershire old boy Moody, who is currently in charge of the Western Warriors. "Ashley is an established and well-respected player in Australian cricket circles, " said Moody. "I'm thrilled." Queensland-born Noffke, 32, who is with Worcestershire until August on a partial season's contract, was reluctant to leave his native state - but the chance to head for the other side of Australia and switch from the East coast to the West coast. "I'm obviously extremely disappointed that I won't be pulling on my maroon cap any more," he said. "But I'm also very thankful to the Warriors for the confidence they've shown in my ability."
