Simon Jones has played 18 Test matches for England, taking 59 wickets |
Worcestershire's England fast bowler Simon Jones has been forced to delay his comeback from knee surgery until the end of June. A scan has revealed that the 30-year-old 2005 Ashes hero's rehabilitation has progressed more slowly than he had been hoping for. Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: "Simon will have a further scan to assess where he is at. "We are now hoping that he can play in a second XI game at the end of June." Jones picked up 42 Championship wickets in nine games in his first season at New Road in 2008. But the former Glamorgan man missed the final month of last season and had surgery in September before again going under the knife at the beginning of this campaign. He had been hoping to feature in Worcestershire's Division One clash with Yorkshire at New Road, beginning on 16 June. He has been plagued by injury since the summer of 2005 and has not played for England since the fourth Test of the 2-1 Ashes series win over Australia that year.
