Newton believes Worcestershire's profit could have been higher

Worcestershire have turned in a record profit of over �350,000 - just 12 months after suffering a record loss.

Their New Road ground was badly hit by extensive floods in 2007, leading to losses for the county of over �1m.

But chief executive Mark Newton told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "After the floods in 2007 we set about a two-year recovery, we are on track.

"We lost �75,000 at the end of the 2008 season when we had more flooding or the figures could have been even better."

Nearly �150,000 has been raised by chairman Percy Price's Flood Club, with donations, commercial activities and sponsorship adding to the record profit.

Total income rose by 42% as a result of significant increases in gate, catering and commercial income, whilst expenditure was reduced by 16%.

The county will hold their Annual General Meeting at the King's School Theatre on 9 February.
