West Indian Fidel Edwards will link up with Worcestershire in July |
West Indies Test fast bowler Fidel Edwards will be Worcestershire's overseas player for the second half of the 2008 season. The 26-year-old, who currently plays for Barbados, is expected to be at New Road by 10 July. Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: "Fidel is an international strike bowler with 30 Test matches under his belt. "He is exciting to watch and will add more pace and venom to our attack." Edwards added: "I am very excited to be coming to Worcestershire as I have been waiting a long time to play county cricket. "It's going to be a learning experience for me and I am willing to give whatever experience I have gained from playing Test cricket." Edwards, also known as 'Castro', has taken 75 wickets in his 30 Test matches. Worcestershire have already missed out on several overseas targets this winter, most notably Umar Gul, Ashley Noffke and Shane Bond, who signed last week for Hampshire.
