Shane Bond may get one-year deal |
Reports in New Zealand suggest that Shane Bond will definitely be offered a one-year contract with Worcestershire. Bond is available next summer, having opted out of international cricket due to his participation in the rebel Indian League.
But, although nothing has yet been confirmed at New Road, they have admitted he is on their 'radar'.
Bond has in the past signed for both Warwickshire and Gloucestershire, only for injury to prevent him playing.
But, if he can prove his fitness, the chances of him being at New Road next summer are now looking more likely.
Worcestershire have already signed three fast bowlers this winter, former Glamorgan and England man Simon Jones, as well as youngsters Gareth Andrew and Chris Whelan.
But they have lost Nadeem Malik to Leicestershire and there are question marks against Matt Mason, after missing almost the whole of last season through injury.
And they have missed out on several previous overseas targets, notably Ashley Noffke, who signed for Middlesex earlier this month, and Umar Gul.
