Left-arm seamer Chris Liddle has signed a new one-year contract with Sussex, keeping him at Hove until the end of the 2011 season. The 26-year-old, who joined Sussex from Leicestershire in 2006, missed the whole of the 2009 season, but figured in this year's CB 40 squad. Liddle said: "It's been a disappointing and frustrating two years for me being out injured. "Now I am determined to repay the faith that Sussex have shown in me." The Middlesbrough-born player suffered a stress fracture in his right ankle causing him to miss the 2009 campaign, but took four wickets against Surrey on his return to the first-team this season. | He is now fit and strong and has come back really well Mark Robinson on Chris Liddle |
"I'll be aiming to break into the Championship side as well as the one-day sides next season, and now I am fully fit I can be a real asset to the club," added Liddle. Professional cricket manager Mark Robinson said: "He has performed admirably in the CB40 games at the back end of the season and has deserved his chance to show the Sussex public what he's really got. "Chris has had a troublesome two years with an ongoing ankle problem, but he is now fit and strong and has come back really well."
