Sussex have handed seamers Chris Liddle and Corey Collymore one-year extensions to their contract, keeping them at Hove until the end of the 2010 season. Left-armer Liddle, 25, has missed the 2009 season with a broken ankle but averaged 16.50 in the Twenty20 Cup in 2008 also taking two four-wicket hauls. Ex-West Indies international Collymore, 31, has taken 31 first-class wickets this season at an average of 33.46. "I enjoy playing at Hove and 2009 has been remarkable," said Collymore. "I look forward to helping this club make a big impact on world cricket." | Corey is a dream to captain and he's fantastic to have around the dressing room Sussex skipper Mike Yardy |
Liddle, who joined Sussex from Leicestershire in 2006, added: "It's been a frustrating year, but I'm incredibly excited about getting fit and playing a full part in a successful Sussex team." Captain Mike Yardy was pleased the pair had agreed to stay for next season. "It was a shame for both him [Chris Liddle] and the club that he was out all year due to injury," he said. "But he's got a chance in 2010 to show everybody what they've been missing. "Corey is a dream to captain and he's fantastic to have around the dressing room. He's a quality seam bowler and his experience and input always proves priceless." Former Test player Collymore joined Sussex in May 2008.
