Goodwin has been a loyal servant for Sussex for some time |
Sussex have announced the 15-man squad that will travel to India for the Champions League Twenty20 in October. Of the internationals, Matt Prior is rested but Luke Wright, Piyush Chawla, Yasir Arafat and Dwayne Smith all play. But there is no place for veteran Murray Goodwin, whose unbeaten 80 in the Twenty20 Cup semi-finals paved the way for Sussex to qualify for India. Goodwin has past links with the Indian Cricket League, and is therefore deemed ineligible within tournament rules. He has, however, formally cut his links with the ICL, allowing Sussex themselves to gain entry into the Champions League. Captain Mike Yardy said: "We're all very excited about the trip to India. I'm proud to be leading a great squad."
Sussex squad: Yardy (capt), Yasir Arafat, Beer, Brown (wk), Chawla, Gatting, Hamilton-Brown, Hodd (wk), Joyce, Keegan, Kirtley, Martin-Jenkins, Nash, Smith, Wright
