Torquay bagged a late leveller against Aldershot to end a six-match losing streak, but they stay in the drop zone.
Lewis Chalmers headed against the bar early on for the Shots, before their keeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz saved from Chris Robertson and Kevin Nicholson.
The visitors went ahead when Marvin Morgan slotted in a penalty after a handball in the Torquay penalty area.
Tim Sills latched on to Nicky Wroe's cross to side-foot home before he was sent off for two late bookings.
Aldershot manager Gary Waddock told BBC Surrey:
"It's a point gained and we have Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz to thank for that. He was outstanding.
"The performance from our point of view wasn't good enough. We expect to play better than that, but we've got a point away from home.
"We said what we had to say at half-time.
"We go a goal up against the run of play, but last year we would have crumbled. And I'm delighted with the point, especially given the performance."
