Sussex's chief executive has admitted that the dreams of earning "millions" from the Champions League tournament in India are not quite the reality. The Sharks defeated Northants in the Twenty20 Cup semi final to secure a place in the Champions League. "Of the £60k we're guaranteed, we've got to pay players and buy insurances," Dave Brooks told BBC Sussex. "The ECB are currently negotiating with the tournament organisers to generate more funds for the English teams." He added: "We're quietly confident that additional guaranteed funds will come through in the next week or so. Brooks, however, insists October's trip to India will be worth it. "We're playing cricket in the world's biggest club tournament and Sussex Sharks' name is very quickly going to appear on the map, particularly if we perform well. "The benefits over the course of the next two, three, five years for the club -commercially- should we succeed and do well in India are significant. "You can't just look at it as a one-off exercise where you've got to make x-hundred thousand pounds, you've got to look at it as part of a long-term building of profile for the club."
