Trescothick has scored 872 Twenty20 runs in his county career |
Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick says his side will need to step up their game before meeting Northants in the FP t20 quarter-finals. Somerset will host Northants at Taunton on Tuesday, 27 July, but completed their group matches with a 59-run defeat to Kent on Sunday. "It was our worst performance with the bat all season," Trescothick told BBC Radio Bristol. "If you don't perform it's irrelevant who you play, anybody can beat you." He added: "I could come up with a 100 excuses but the fact is we've just got to make sure we don't do it anymore." Before they return to 20-over action, Somerset face Kent again, this time in County Championship action beginning on Tuesday. South African pace bowler Charl Willoughby is expected to come back into the Somerset side. "We have to pick ourselves up and perform. It's a big game for us," Trescothick said.
