South African de Bruyn has played three Test matches

Somerset all-rounder Zander de Bruyn has signed a new one-year contract to play for the county in 2009.

De Bruyn, 33, has scored almost 700 Championship runs for the Taunton-based club since making his debut in May.

The South African has also taken five first-class wickets and featured regularly for Somerset in both one-day and Twenty20 competitions.

The veteran Kolpak registration previously represented Worcestershire as an overseas player in 2005.
