Hussey captained Nottinghamshire in the Twenty20 competition in 2010 |
Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell says Australian batsman David Hussey is their first choice as overseas player next season. Hussey, 33, first joined Notts in 2004 and helped them win the County Championship title and reach the FP t20 finals day last season. Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's available from June next year [after his Indian Premier League commitments]. "He'd be our first pick, let's see what we can do before and after that." Hussey played a key role in helping Notts to the county title last season before he returned to play for Victoria in his native Australia. In the past, South African batsman Hashim Amla and Australian Adam Voges have filled in for Hussey whenever his IPL or national team commitments have prevented him from playing for Notts. And Newell says he has already held talks with the pair: "They're the players we've talked to so far. If they're happy to come back, we're happy to have any of those three or all of those three at different times in 2011. "
