Veteran batsman Ali Brown nets new Nottinghamshire deal

Veteran Nottinghamshire batsman Ali Brown has signed a new one-year deal at Trent Bridge and expects it to be his last professional contract.

Brown scored 805 runs as Notts won the County Championship title last season.

And the former Surrey and England man also weighed in with another 337 runs in the Friends Provident twenty20.

"My thinking at the moment is this will be my final deal but it is hard to walk away from a club that is challenging for honours," said the 40-year-old.

Brown, who represented England in one-day cricket, added: "Last season was very enjoyable for the team and me personally and winning the championship was an achievement we're all immensely proud of.

Ali was a key player for us last season and he has a positive impact on the field and in the dressing room.

Director of cricket Mick Newell

"There are some talented young batsmen here who are beginning to make inroads and I hope that they can grasp their opportunities and force their way into the side."

Director of cricket Mick Newell added: "Ali was a key player for us last season and he has a positive impact on the field and in the dressing room."
