Nottinghamshire all-rounder Paul Franks has signed a new two-year deal.

The 31-year-old former England one-day international from Mansfield made his Notts debut in 1996 and has spent his entire career with his home county.

He has scored 404 runs and 29 wickets in the County Championship this year and is number eight in their order.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I made it clear a long time ago that I would only ever leave the club if they did not want me anymore."

He continued: "I'm delighted to have earned a new deal. I knew there was going to be an opportunity for me at the start of the season and I'm pleased to have gone a good way to taking it.

"Whatever we've been at the top end of and competing for silverware, knowing that I'm playing a part towards that has kept me going.

"I've always believed in my own ability."
