Franks made his England one-day debut in 2000

The 27-year-old, in his 11th year at Trent Bridge, made his first-team debut 10 years ago and has since taken over 350 wickets and scored over 4,000 runs.

Notts cricket committee chairman Stuart Foster said: "He carried the bowling attack on his own back for much of the late '90s and has always given 100%."

Franks said: "I hope to be playing for Notts for a long time yet."

After becoming the youngest Notts player ever to take a hat-trick, Franks starred as vice-captain when England won the Under-19s World Cup in 1998.

He was picked by England to make his one-day international debut against the West Indies at Trent Bridge in 2000, the same year he was named as Young Cricketer of the Year by the Cricket Writers' Club.
