Neil Edwards signed for Nottinghamshire in August

Nottinghamshire expect to be without opening batsman Neil Edwards for up to six weeks due to injury.

Edwards broke his hand in the ongoing second XI friendly against Hampshire.

He had contributed 76 to Nottinghamshire's first-innings total when he retired hurt after a rising ball struck him.

The three-day fixture, which finishes on Wednesday, was arranged to give Notts practice ahead of their County Championship trip to Essex.
