Kevin O'Brien is likely to be involved in the ICC World Twenty20 in June |
Ireland all-rounder Kevin O'Brien has joined Nottinghamshire on a long-term trial in time to feature in their Twenty20 Cup campaign. The 25-year-old will join up with his new team-mates once Ireland's FP Trophy campaign comes to an end on 20 May. O'Brien will then feature in all competitive matches whenever he is not on international duty. Notts became interested in signing the hard-hitter after he hit an unbeaten 93 against them at Trent Bridge last year. Director of cricket Mick Newell said: "If he can develop his bowling Kevin could become a very capable all-rounder. "His batting is already good and that innings against us certainly stuck in my mind over the winter. | 606: DEBATE |
"As it became clearer that we were likely to be without a few of our players this season because of England commitments, I kept on coming back to what he might be able to offer us. "Ireland have a lot of cricket to play over the next four months but we will fit in around those international commitments. "It's an open-ended trial and Kevin will be available to play in all our fixtures when he's with us."
