AJ Harris was a key player in Notts' 2005 County Championship triumph |
Nottinghamshire will release bowler AJ Harris when his contract expires at the end of the season. A pre-season injury meant Harris fell behind new arrivals Darren Pattinson and Andre Adams in the pecking order. And the 35-year-old medium pace bowler has spent the season on loan first at Gloucestershire and now Worcestershire. Director of cricket Mick Newell told the club website: "AJ has served Notts well and was unlucky as our seam bowlers managed to stay injury-free." Harris, who joined Nottinghamshire from Derbyshire in 2000, was a key player in the side which brought the County Championship title back to Trent Bridge for the first time in 18 years in 2005. And Newell has suggested that the former England A tourist is still young enough to get a move elsewhere. "He still has a great appetite for the game," said Newell. "And he can certainly perform a role for another county but we want to give opportunities to younger bowlers."
