'Unbelievable' defeat for Notts

Chris Read
The last time Notts won a one-day trophy was 17 years ago

Nottinghamshire captain Chris Read says Sussex put in an 'unbelievable effort' to snatch the Pro40 Division One title from under their noses.

Chris Adams' side rallied heroically to pull off Sunday's dramatic two-wicket win over Notts at Trent Bridge.

And Read told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It was a fantastic game of cricket but we were on the wrong end of it.

"I'd like to have thought we would have wrapped it up with overs to spare, so it's very disappointing."

We've come so close here and failed to jump that final hurdle

Nottinghamshire captain Chris Read
Read added: "You go through all kinds of emotions because it's a game that, with 11 overs to go, we looked to have won.

"It would have taken an unbelievable effort for them to win and that effort happened.

"I'd love to win a one day tournament. We've come so close here and failed to jump that final hurdle."

The last time Notts won a one-day trophy was 17 years ago, when they claimed the 1991 Sunday League title.
