Shrek had a bowling average of 28.67 in this year's County Championship

Nottinghamshire opening bowler Charlie Shreck has been named the club's Player of the Year.

The 30-year-old received the award at the end of season gala dinner at Trent Bridge on Tuesday night.

Shreck has taken 76 wickets across four competitions for Notts in 2008, with 58 of those in the County Championship.

Notts also announced that captain and wicketkeeper Chris Read, who has been at the club for 11 seasons, has been awarded a benefit next year.
