Theron was in the South African squad for the World Twenty20 |
Northants have failed to secure South African bowler Juan Theron because of problems with his work permit. The 24-year-old paceman was due to play in the first five matches of the Twenty20 competition. "The ECB initially issued a British entry visa and then decided it wasn't going to happen," coach David Capel told BBC Radio Northampton. "We're disappointed because we think he would've been a very fine player for us in that competition." Earlier this season, Northants believed they had secured the signing of Indian batsman Virender Sehwag, only for the Board of Control for Cricket in India to revoke the No Objection Certificate permitting his involvement in this season's Twenty20 Cup.
