Northants hope Theron will help them to a strong start in the FP t20 |
South Africa international paceman Juan Theron has agreed to join Northants for part of their Twenty20 campaign. The 24-year-old will join the county for the first five matches of the Friends Provident t20, subject to acquiring a visa. "I'm absolutely delighted to announce the signing of a world-class talent like 'Rusty' Theron," said Northants head coach David Capel. "This will give us a great boost at the start of the Twenty20." Theron plays alongside former Northants captain Nicky Boje for Warriors in South African domestic cricket and also appeared for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League. He was awarded a central contract with Cricket South Africa and has built a reputation as a 'death' bowler in the closing overs of a T20 innings. He was named in the South Africa squad for the recent ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies.
