All-rounder Steven Crook and bowler Ryan Cummins will leave Northants at the end of the season after the club failed to offer the pair new contracts. Crook joined the club from Lancashire in 2005 while Cummins arrived from Leicestershire for the 2009 season. Head coach David Capel told the club's website: "It's a shame for these two smashing lads and for Northants. "We haven't seen the best of these two talented players. I'd like to wish them the very best in their future careers." Crook, 26, had struggled with various injuries since joining Northants four years ago. | Both players are outstanding professionals and it is a shame we didn't see them out on the County Ground field more often Northants chief executive Mark Tagg |
The all-rounder said: "I would just like to thank Ross Dewar and Barry Goudriaan for all their efforts in trying to get me back on the field over the last four years and to everyone at Northants Cricket. It is very disappointing that the injuries got the best of me." Meanwhile seam bowler Cummins endured a back injury that has seen him appear just once this season. Northants chief executive Mark Tagg said: "Both players are outstanding professionals and it is a shame we didn't see them out on the County Ground field more often. "Whatever they choose to do in the future, Northants Cricket would like to wish the pair all the best."
