Stemp produced some impressive bowling to help Saints to victory |
Spinner Richard Stemp bowled Northampton Saints to a 66-run victory over Burton Latimer that keeps them top of the Hevey Northamptonshire League. The former Worcestershire, Yorkshire, Notts and Leicestershire player claimed 4-17 as Burton were dismissed for 106 chasing 173 to win. Finedon stayed in touch with a nervy one-run success at Stony Stratford. Elsewhere, Alan Burton's century set up a comfortable victory for third-placed Peterborough against Rushden. Lower down the table, Wollaston skipper Steve Musgrave captured a five-wicket haul as his side beat struggling Desborough, and Old Northamptonians got back to winning ways with an 82-run triumph at Brixworth. The only Premier Division draw of the day saw Rushton and Northamptonshire Academy share the honours at Station Road, while in the first division Geddington maintained their 100 per cent record with victory over Wellingborough Indians.
