Rob Newton hit a boundary-filled century to earn the county's academy side their first victory of the season in the Hevey Northamptonshire League. The 19-year-old smashed seven sixes and 12 fours in his 102 as the defending champions successfully chased 279 to beat Desborough at West Lodge Park. Northampton Saints remain 12 points clear at the top of the table after a draw with Peterborough Town. And their nearest rivals Finedon also shared the honours at Wollaston. Former Zimbabwe international Dion Ebrahim scored 109 for Stony Stratford in their drawn match with Burton Latimer, while the result was the same in the day's remaining match between Rushden and Brixworth.
