Rob White passed 1,000 first-class runs last summer for the first time |
Northants batsman Rob White has insisted the club are targeting silverware as the build-up to the new season begins this week. White, 29, was a key player for the county last year and has undergone surgery during the winter to deal with a knee problem. "Winning a trophy would be fantastic," he told BBC Radio Northampton. "You can get on a roll in a particular competition, and I'd love to get to a finals day or a big game at Lord's." White added: "There's a obviously lot of emphasis on the Twenty20 Cup - especially in the media and with the big crowds that turn up for it." Northants face Derbyshire at Northampton in pre-season friendlies on Wednesday and Friday, before travelling to Sussex and Kent next week. Batsman David Sales is still recovering from knee surgery while Niall O'Brien - the county's player of the year in 2008 - is on international duty with Ireland. Captain Nicky Boje and fellow South Africans Andrew Hall and Johan van der Wath are due to fly in early next week. Northants open their County Championship campaign against Leicestershire on April 15.
