Leicestershire have confirmed that chief executive David Smith has resigned from his post.

A statement on the club website said the board "regrets to announce that it has accepted the resignation".

Discussions are now taking place between Leicestershire and Smith to determine the date of his departure.

A club spokesperson said Mike Siddall has been appointed to the role of acting chief executive until a permanent appointment can be made.
